BUILDING VALUES – LESSON 4 : PATIENCE

Do you sometimes feel like things are happening slower than you think they should? Somehow you feel you should be through with college because all your age-mates are through…you feel you should have that nice car you have been dreaming of…I mean…all your friends are driving…you feel you should be in a relationship because apparently…that’s the hashtag…and you just don’t understand why things seem to be taking too long.

PATIENCEWe live in a generation that has been fortunately or unfortunately quickened by technology. From the beginning of fast foods…we have ATMS…Mpesa…airline travel…and all these seem to make life faster. Have you ever taken a step back and thought of God’s plan for your life? Apart from the good plan that is being talked about in the media and all…have you ever thought of the God-plan for your life?

Deuteronomy 28:12

The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands; and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

Have you noticed that? We have seasons that God has set for us. There is a due time for you to receive certain breakthroughs. God is not delaying them to make you suffer…no…he is taking you through a process. The problem is that at times we lose patience and want our lands to be watered out of season. We hurry to get in relationships when our time has not yet come. We rush into positions whose times are due even though the lord has called us to occupy them.

Galatians 5:22

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

When you understand this verse, something clicks in your mind. Notice that we DO NOT make ourselves patient…we don’t make ourselves loving…we don’t give ourselves joy…it is the Holy Spirit that produces this fruits in us. Follow me…therefore…the production of these fruits is not out of our effort but the power of the Holy Spirit. What’s your role?

If the Holy Spirit has already produced patience in you…it means you ARE PATIENT. Every believer is patient!!! Patience LIVES in you! But how does this patience become visible? It’s such a wonder how Abraham could have waited patiently to get a son for 25 years! That’s almost insane! Where did he get all that patience??? How can you get that patience?

2 Corinthians 5:7

For we live by faith, not by sight

That’s how! Walking by faith! When things seem dark…when you have been going through this serious roller-coaster of problems…when you have really prayed for that house and it’s not coming…stop asking God for it…start thanking him for it…how? By having faith in him. When you put ALL your faith in God…your patience will be a wonder. Even before you see results…thank God…true patience is built on faith in Jesus.

I’ve seen people resolving to be more patient…trying to be patient…as a Christian, you need to understand that YOU ARE patient! The fruit has already been deposited in you! All you have to do is LIVE in patience by faith! Maybe yesterday you were not patient…today…proclaim by faith that you are patient! Start living by totally having faith in God! And you will see a more patient you. Patience is not just waiting for something its more on HOW you wait. Choose to wait in joy. Choose to wait KNOWING that God is working everything for your advantage!(Romans 8:28)

Do you want to be more patient? Make the choice of showing off the fruit of patience in you. Declare by faith and walk by faith. The grace of God is sufficient to help you. God loves you .

As is close, psalms 37:10 says;

Before you know it, the wicked will have had it; you’ll stare at his once famous place and—nothing! Down-to-earth people will move in and take over, relishing a huge bonanza

Friend, you are patient…you have all the patience you need…start practicing it, and as the bible says…BEFORE YOU KNOW IT…your problems will be over! Your rent will be paid! Your mother will be healed! Your boss will give you a raise! BEFORE YOU KNOW IT!

CONFESSION

I have all the patience I need deposited in me. I choose to practice patience…not by my effort…because I can’t by myself…but by faith! In Jesus Name…Amen.

Am sure you have something to say :-)
